Question about SJ 891 Wagons

Apologies if this topic is in the wrong area, unfortunately I am still learning alot about the SJ 891mm lines and I could not see an area to post "General" Questions.

I am currently trying to find drawings for those wagons used on the SJ 891mm lines. Would I be correct in my assumption that the 891 gauge wagons were basically "standard" gauge wagon designs (diagrams)? Other than the back to back wheel dimensions, and lack of buffers what were the other differences?

I have found a number of links on the Internet for those wagons that ran on the standard gauge SJ lines and noticed a similarity between the designs, the only difference being the "p" suffix... e.g. Gp Van.

If anyone knows of any wagon drawing sources specifically for the 891mm lines I would be most interested.

Not quite, as a general rule. Most of them are smaller in most dimensions, looking almost like caricatures of their bigger cousins.

Yes looking at the images against the drawings I can see something doesn't look quite right...

Are you able to recommend any sources for drawings of these wagons?

All of SJ's narrow-gauge lines started as private lines. Each line got their own wagons and although they may have started more or less the same they were often rebuilt several times. In the late forties or so SJ tried to standardise somewhat and ordered new wagons. These could be seen as smaller versions of standard gauge wagons G and O.

So take for example the Van "G" and comparing it to the "Gp"...





The reason I made the assumption that the bodies were the same on reduced underframes as the "Gp" van image above, and recognising that it is a preserved example therefore not 100% accurate, has the locations for buffing gear etc on the head stocks...

Interesting observation. Great with a fresh mind. I have never considered the holes in the buffer beams as location holes for buffers. I don't think they are, I believe they are there to reduce weight, but it is definitely an interesting point.

As you point out several parts are reused from standard gauge, e.g. ventilators and details around the doors but I don't believe standardisation went further than that. Does anyone else know (I can help with translation to English if you want)?

They follow they same styling, but I believe all dimensions are smaller on the narrow gauge specimen.
