Thanks you all very much for the links, these are very useful and certainly supplement the information I have already found via simple searches on Google.
I have a couple of questions if I may...and may seem like simple questions?!
1) Would I be correct in assuming that the cabs at either end of the rail car have drivers consoles? I have a drawing of a Y01p , however it is not clear if the drivers desk is replicated at either end?
2) What do the Yellow/Red "Targets" above the cab at one end signify?
Thank you!

Re: A new member joins!
The "Targets" are "A-end" markers, i.e. they show the "front" of the vehicle. I think that is what you mean...
If you are interested, I have made drawings of the Y01p and a non-motorised trailer that I can send you. I have made PDF-versions that unfirtunately have some distortion... But they are still OK...
Please E-mail me (anders.habo(at)gmail.com) and I will send you PDF drawings of 2 version s of the railcar, the trailer and a Chassis drawing (WMF-file).
Best Regards,
Anders Ö

Yes!
As Anders writes the "targets''" purpose is to indicate the front. E.g. hand signals are used to indicate "move forward" and "move in reverse". To these to be correctly sent the sender must know where the front of the vehicle is. This was obvious for steam locomotives but a sign became necessary with the introduction of (almost) symetrical vehicles.

Re: A new member joins!
Many thanks again the information you have all provided it has all been very useful. Thank you for putting up with my persistent questioning!
It is planned to make a start within the next couple of weeks once I have completed sourcing materials.
The current idea is for the front cab sections to be formed out of brass or aluminum as far round to the entrance doors. The body sides will be plasticard or brass built around a perspex "box" to maintain rigidity and to form the interior partitions.
Before commencing with the project, as the scale is not a "standard" scale there is still some work in defining the track standards.
Thanks all again.
