A new member joins!

Inlägg av rich_eason »

Hello :)

Firstly I must apologise for posting this message in English...ashamedly I am unable to speak Swedish.

Over the past months I have become very interested in the Hilding Carlsson Y01p Railcars, typically those that ran on the 891mm (3') gauge Swedish lines. Although I am primarily a 4mm UK standard gauge finescale modeller, I have taken the brave decision (?!) to make four HC Railcars in 1/35 (8.71mm-1ft) scale, to operate on an "un yet" started 1/35 exhibition layout!

All rolling stock and track work will have to be scratch built as (as I understand) at this scale there are no commercially available items produced.

I have joined this forum in search of information...After many searches I have obtained a number of drawings, photographs of the railcars and information regarding the Swedish 891mm track work. Please, if you are able to offer any further information I would be very grateful, likewise any useful Internet links you wish to share especially those that detail 891mm wagons and locos.

Once again I apologise for this message not being in Swedish, and look forward to reviewing the many threads of this forum.

For completeness I have attached a couple of images of my UK 4mm standard gauge (P4) layout "Frampton"...

Hilding Carlsson Yo1p in english

Inlägg av TomasP »

As we have english members on the forum interested in Hilding Carlsson Yo1p I will start to add some links to SVT (swedish television) They have films from the 1940s when many small local raliways were incorporated into SJ (Swedish state railways) and therefore SJ made films about thos railways. Many Railcars of type Yo1p are seen in the films (as well as other narrow guage locomotives and cars)

There are no sound to the movies but the pictures are nice

The railways of Öland (island on the east coast)

The Railways of Gotland (island futher out in the Baltic Sea)

A railway in the area between the big lakes (Vänern and Vättern)

Dear Richard, welcome to our forum. I don´t think you have to worry about writing in English, for most of our members it is not a problem at all.

There is still one full scale Yo1p operating at the museum railroad Anten - Gräfnäs Järnväg (AGJ). Look under "Våra fordon".

[link=http://www.agj.net]AGJ[/link]

The car is run at special occations only since it has a fragile manual gearbox and clutch. When it is not run, it is on display in a hall for waggons at the AGJ facility.

There is a superb kit of Y01p available in scale 1/45 from "Rimbo Grande models" if you are a bit flexible about the scale.

Thanks also for the very inspireing fotos of your setup, it looks amazing.

My apologies, I was looking to see if there was a "New Members - Welcome" area and thought that this would be best suited...but thank you all for the warm welcome!

To save clogging up this thread I will start a new thread in the appropriate area and use that to keep a "blog" of the project developments...if people would be interested?

I moved this thread to the relevant section of the forum. Hopefully I will be able to merge the two threads into one.

This is a drawing of (about half of) a double slip, sometimes called "engelsman" ("Englishman") in Sweden.
