Warley 2019

THE 2019 WARLEY NATIONAL MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION
The UK’s No 1. Model Railway Event
A must for the railway enthusiast and a great family day out!
(VOTED UK’s Best Model Railway Exhibition 2015,2016, 2017 and 2018 in the British Model Railway Awards)
www.thewarleyshow.co.uk

27th YEAR AT NEC AND THE CLUB’s 52nd ANNUAL EXHIBITION!!!!
THE UK’s LARGEST MODEL RAILWAY EVENT!

Following the success of our 26th Annual Show at the NEC, plans are now well advanced for the organisation of the 2019 Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. The Exhibition is open to the public on Saturday 23rd November next from 9.45 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday 24th November next from 9.45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Advance ticket holders will be allowed entry from 9.15 a.m.

The Exhibition is to be held in Hall 5 of the NEC, allowing 17,000 square metres of hall space, the Show being the No.1 Model Railway Event in the United Kingdom, and Europe’s largest single hall event!

HIGHLIGHTS for this year:
Over 90 working, inspirational, model railway layouts with full Trade and Society support, and demonstrations of techniques used in the hobby by experts in their field.
Winning layout from series 2 of the Channel 5 TV programme ‘Great Model Railway Challenge’.
Prototype Inspiration exhibits.
• Return of the ‘Shop and Drop’ facility for the convenience of our visitors.

Notable features of the Exhibition are as follows:
The model railway layouts will represent all the popular scale and gauge combinations, representing British Railways throughout their history. There will be 15 layouts of overseas prototypes including 5 outstanding layouts from our friends in Europe.

A number of layouts will be grouped to form a ‘Micro Layout’ display – inspirational layouts in small spaces.

Our prototype inspiration this year is the unique award winning recently restored NER Autocar, courtesy of The NER 1903 Electric Autocar Trust. A rare opportunity to get very close to this outstanding historical vehicle! Our friends from the Vintage Trains Society are promising a special surprise on their stand! For freight enthusiasts the National Wagon Preservation Group will be bringing an HAA wagon onto their stand, whilst our Sponsor PECO will be showing a loco and coach from The Beer Heights Light Railway.

Always a popular attraction, there will be the opportunity to experience Pete Waterman’s “Building Leamington Spa” presentation in the DVD Cinema, presented by Pete, with a DVD of the layout, and including a display of some of the models featuring on this superb O gauge line, owned by the Waterman Railways Heritage Trust.

Ever popular with younger enthusiasts, the Junior Modellers corner will include a number of layouts built with younger modellers in mind, including the Warley MRC ‘Awdry St. Nicolas’ children’s layout, ‘Watney and Worsted’, the Warley MRC juniors layout, together with a display on progress on their new layout.

Following the success of the Junior Modellers Workshop, initiated some years ago at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition, this feature continues to enable junior modellers to “have a go”. Some previous students are now known to be building their own layouts!

Trade representation will include in excess of 130 traders, which is the largest model railway trade gathering in the United Kingdom. In addition to the sponsors of the Exhibition, namely Bachmann Europe, PECO, Graham Farish, Crecy Publishing, Hornby, and Squires, also present will be Dapol, Heljan, Accurascale, and Oxford Die-cast together with a large selection of specialist manufacturers and suppliers to the hobby. Joining us at the Show for the first time this year are KATO and Cavalex Models. The Exhibition is known to be the "modellers’ marketplace” in the midst of the modelling season. The Small Suppliers Forum encourages smaller manufacturers to promote themselves at the Show. A number of trade exhibitors will be with us for the first time this year.

The DEMONSTRATION area will cover the themes ‘Materials in Modelling’, ‘For all Scales’, ‘Meet the Expert’, ‘Shows You How’ for beginners together with experts from Warley MRC demonstrating their skills.

Advance Tickets. The usual arrangements for advance ticket applications are again in place this year, and application for tickets in advance are an attractive alternative to payment on the door.

Advance ticket holders will be allowed entry to the Exhibition from 9.15 a.m. on both the Saturday and Sunday of the Exhibition. This will help to ease congestion and means that advance ticket holders have the opportunity to be well inside the hall before other visitors are allowed in. There will be a separate queuing system for advance ticket holders.

Following it’s successful introduction last year our ‘Kids for a Quid Each’ promotion continues this year!

Advance ticket prices are as follows:
  • Adult Tickets - One day admission at £16.00 each (Age 17+ years)
  • Adult Tickets - Two day admission at £29.00 each (Age 17+ years)
  • Junior Tickets - One day admission at £1.00 each (Age 5 to 16 years, must be accompanied by an adult)

  • Adult Tickets - Two day admission at £32.00 each (Age 17+ years)
  • Junior Tickets - One day admission at £1.00 each (Age 5 to 16 years, must be accompanied by an adult)

Warley National Model Railway Exhibition Advance Ticket Sales
86 Gospel End Road, Sedgley, Dudley, West Midlands. DY3 3YU.
Purchases may be made by Credit/Debit card from the Ticket Factory at the NEC on telephone number 0844 5810737, or www.theticketfactory.com, where an administration fee applies.

Those who have visited the Show before will know that Saturday is a very busy day. If you therefore wish to come and visit the Show without such large crowds, we would recommend attendance on Sunday as the Exhibition is more comfortable on that day.

Car Parking. There is ample car parking for those planning to drive to the Exhibition. There is a charge for car parking at the NEC. Please note changes to NEC car parking arrangements from this autumn. The car park fee remains at £12 per vehicle for purchases in advance up to midnight before the exhibition day, purchased through the NEC website, but the fee will increase to £16 for tickets purchased on the day. Advance car park tickets can be purchased through the NEC web site up to 3 months before the Show. i.e. from the beginning of September.

Rail Service. Birmingham International Station is adjacent to the Exhibition site making rail access extremely easy and convenient. Many local stations have FREE parking.

NEC PLUS is an initiative from the NEC offering Virgin Train and other discounts, together with helpful venue information. See the NEC Website for full details.

The NEC has full facilities for Disabled visitors.

Updated details of the Exhibition are available through our Web Site at www.thewarleyshow.co.uk. Make a visit and be inspired by images of many of the layouts to be seen at this year’s Show! You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
